Hiding Pipes
August 6, 2014

The washbasin you choose normally dictates the materials it is made of. The stand alone pedestal or wall hung basins are usually made of porcelain or vitreous china (ceramic), but those designed to be fitted into a counter top can be constructed from pretty much any material.

Wall Hung Basins.
A good selection of brackets are on sale which support this type of basin. Including basins that are fixed to the wall with screws or fitted on a dual towel rail or using concealed brackets. Whatever type is used, make sure the fixing method and the wall itself is able to safely support the weight. If there is any doubt, use a different type of support like a centre leg or pair of end legs and bearers can be used. London Vaillant Boiler Repairs can supply and fit all styles of basins.

Recessed Basins.
This type of basin can be recessed in a wall, over panelling or on a vanity unit. Normally found in cloakrooms and smaller bathrooms, the recessed basin is becoming very popular as a feature in bathrooms.

Corner Basins.
These can be used to save space, so they are ideal for use in a cloakroom or WC, these basins can be fitted so that the pipes are easy to hide in a nearby wall or boxed into a corner. Being very practical, means that corner basins are usually supplied in small sizes rather than a full bathroom size. A London Vaillant Boiler Repair trained plumber carries the correct tools.

Pedestal.
The pedestal tends to be a larger basin with the extra weight being supported by the pedestal. This style has the added feature of concealing the waste and supply pipes making it nice and neat.

Semi-Pedestal.
This is the description of the wall hung basins that have a matching ceramic ‘half pedestal’ fitted to the wall to give added strength to the fixing of the bowl, it also adds some style to the unit.
Hand Rinse.
This type is actually a smaller version of a wall-hung washbasin and can also be used for corner fitting. Small and compact in their size makes them just right for use in hard to work areas, like a cloakroom. Because they are small and light, the support brackets tend to be a lot simpler in their design.
